Mount McKinley
Perhaps one of the most famous of all the landforms in the world, Mt. McKinley is one of very few mountains that are made up almost entirely out of one rock, in this case, granite. Granite is a hard yet buoyant igneous rock that sustains weathering much better than sedimentary rocks of the mountains nearby. Because of this strength, "Denali is higher because it gets pushed up more easily and erodes more slowly than rocks in surrounding mountains."
The mountains around Mt. McKinley are primarily made up of sedimentary rocks. These rocks are weaker and withstand much less than granite or igneous rocks. The three main sedimentary rocks in Denali are limestone, sandstone, and shale.
